Clarksville dry spell is over - We measured an inch of rain. I heard the first drop.
Oklahoma is sending hay to our farmers.
It was a scene from that old farming show.
Grandpa and Grandma had plowed up the garden (last of august) and had planned to plant some turnips.
After plowing they wanted too smooth out the ground, so Grandpa set up an old lawnmower housing to drag across the plowed up garden. It must not have been heavy enough so Grandma got on it to help it do some good.
Up started Grandpa, ploop Grandma fell off. After she brushed herself off they discussed it and decided to have Grandma face the other way.
Start up the tractor - yell back ready - ease out on the control.
Ploop. Grandma falls off again.
After Grandma gets herself up and brushed off, they "Discuss" it and she says that chain dragging the mower housing is too short. So Grandpa puts a longer chain on the housing and they start again.
Start up the tractor - yell back ready - ease out on the control.
Zoom. Grandma stays on and they sweep back and forth across the garden and plant their turnips.
Grandma's back is hurting some and the next visit to the chiropractor should be interesting.
Later on Grandpa admitted that "he wouldn't let a grandkid do that."
